Classroom Studies:
Seventh Grade
Mathematics!! We are beginning the year with a basic review of fractions! This will help us build on our existing skills and prepare us for new concepts.
Language Arts!! We are studying the parts of speech, their functions, and purpose. We are getting lots of practice using and identifying the different parts of speech.
History!! We have started off the year with a study of influential women in American History. We will look at many brave and amazing examples of true American pride including Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Clara Barton, and Harriet Beecher Stowe. We will do several projects about each woman and her contributions to our country.
Science!! We are excited to be learning about plants this fall! We will do experiments and research to learn as much as we can about how plants grow and their anatomy. We will even be studying carnivorous plants!
Monthly Homework Project!! Each month we will have a big monthly homework project. This month's project is an Animal Habitat Diorama!
Preschool - 2nd Grade
Basic Skills!! We focus a lot of attention on basic skills. We want our students to be ready for the educational opportunities the future will bring them. We always use our very best work on everything we do, and practice, practice, practice! Ask your student to demonstrate their abilities in coloring, cutting, drawing, and writing. Watch as they make AMAZING progress!
I can Read!! Our kindergarten students are very excited to learn to read! Through homework assignments and classroom reading we build our reading talents everyday. Starting with phonics, we work our way up to sight reading, and build our vocabulary! Ask your child to read to you and encourage their efforts!
Letters & Sounds!! We will be working with our letters and sounds a lot this year! Our preschoolers will be working on a different letter every week. Our show and tell will correspond with that week's letter!
Number Skills!! We are beginning to work on numbers 0-10! We will learn to count, recognize, and write our numbers. We will be playing games and doing worksheets as we practice, practice, practice!
Multiple Languages!! This year we are experimenting with several different languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese and American Sign Language. We are learning about different countries and enjoying multicultural experiences!
Animals and Habitats!! We are studying different animals this year! Starting with lions, we will learn about their homes, where and how they live, and what they eat.
Science!! We are beginning our science unit with plants. We will study different kinds of plants. We will learn what they need to grow. We will take trips to the State Fair and Black Island Farms to explore more about plants.
Social Studies!! We will be learning about farms this fall! We will study animals and jobs on the farm. We will take trips to the State Fair and Black Island Farms to enhance our studies!
Literature and Creative Writing!! For back to school, we are reading lots of books about the joys and challenges of starting school as a young person. We will be using our drawing skills to illustrate our narratives and the stories we dream up!
Healthy Living!! Staying fit and healthy are very important and lots of fun! We are learning lots of ways to stay active! We are learning about germs and how and why we should wash our hands!
